National Palace Museum
The National Palace Museum is one the most exciting museums in the world. The collection of Chinese art, historical items and artifacts are considered the most precious cultural treasures of China. It is a ˇ§must seeˇ¨ for foreign visitors. The contents of the museum contain almost all of the important artifacts of the 5,000 years of Chinese history. Most of these artifacts were formerly the property of the Imperial Family. The exhibits change every season and there are also special exhibits featuring different topics.

Drive north on Chung Shan North. Rd., (approximately 12 minutes). Turn right at Fu Lin Rd., (just past the fire station). Turn right again onto J-Shen Rd., for another five minutes.
MRT and Bus
From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road), take the MRT Tamshui or Peitou train to the Shih Lin Station. Take bus no. 304, 225, red line 30, small bus 18 or 19 or the holiday bus no. 101.
 
 
Yangmingshan National park
The so-called ˇ§back garden of Taipeiˇ¨, Yangmingshan National Park offers a beautiful and natural mountain setting with numerous natural hot springˇ¦s. It is the perfect place for those who enjoy a walk in the mountains or hot-spring bathing in a spa type setting.

February and March on Yangmingshan bring the flower season. During this time of year a large selection of flowers begin to bloom all over the mountain. In the autumn, especially during October, the orange maple trees on the mountain reveal a spectacular view of Mt. Tatun.ˇ¨ In the winter, the steady rain and cold wind due to the effects of the northeastern monsoon cover Yangmingshan. The low temperatures, cloudy skies and fog create a unique view of the mountain, and during this season, you can even see snow falling on Mt. Chihsing, Mt. Chutzu and Mt. Tatun.

Drive north on Chung Shan North. Rd. (approximately 12 minutes). Turn right at Fu Lin Rd., (just past the fire station). Follow Fu Lin Rd., until you reach the base of Yangmingshan. Ascend Yangmingshan for another twenty to thirty minutes.
MRT and Bus
From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road), take the Tamshui or Peitou train to the Chientan Station. Take the no. 260 or red line 5 bus. These buses will take you up Yangmingshan Mountain to the park.

 
 
 
Taipei Fine Arts Museum
Located in Yuanshan, Taipei, the museum offers a view of the Keelung River and the distant mountains. The museumˇ¦s unique collection of contemporary and modern art is composed of pieces from the 20th and 21st century. The main emphasis of the collection is of local pieces dated from 1940. There are more than 3,000 objects that are divided into 13 categories that include sculptures, western paintings, oil paintings, ink paintings, sketches, calligraphy and handicrafts.

Drive north on Chung Shan North. Rd. for approximatly10 minutes. The museum is located on the east side of Chung Shan North. Rd., just before the river.
MRT
From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road), take the Tamshui or Peitou train and get off at the Yuanshan MRT Station. Walk east to Chung Shan North Road and then north toward the Grand Hotel.
Bus
From the bus stop near the front of the hotel you can take bus no. 40, 47, 216, 217, 218, 220, 224, 247, 260, 268, 269, 287, 291, 308 or 310.
 
 
 
Shih Lin Night Market
The Shih Lin Night Market is the largest Night Market in Taipei and is saturated with people almost every night. The market offers a large variety of food including steaks, Teppanyaki, fried chicken, fried oysters and just about every Chinese or Taiwanese food you could possibly think of. Additionally, there are numerous shops selling shoes, clothing, handbags, and jewelry. The Shih Lin Night Market is a ˇ§must seeˇ¨ destination for anyone visiting Taipei.

Drive north on Chung Shan North. Rd., for approximately 15 minutes. Turn left at the Chientan MRT Station (Jian Tan Rd.,) and take the first right. You will need to park your car and there are a couple of parking lots next to the market.
Bus
From the bus stop near the front of the hotel on Chung Shan North Rd., you can take the no.216, 217, 218, 224, 269, 308 or 310 bus. Get off the bus just past the Grand Hotel or near the Shih Lin MRT Station. The market is just east of the MRT Station.
MRT
From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road) take the Tamshui or Peitou train and get off at the Chientan MRT Station.
 
 
 
Hsimen Tin
With the recent reconstruction by the Taipei City Government, Hsimen Tin has a new appearance and feeling totally different from the past. This area has become very busy and is one of the favorite and trendy places to shop for the younger generation. The area offers a large and diverse variety of stores, theaters, and restaurants. Hsimen Tin is a ˇ§must seeˇ¨ destination for anyone visiting Taipei.

From the bus stop across the street from the front of the hotel on Chung Shan North Rd., you can take the no. 40, 47, 202, 218, 220 or 260 bus.
MRT
From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road) take the Tamshui or Peitou train to the Taipei Main Station and change to the Blue Line train. Get off at the Hsimen Station.
 
 
 
Lungshan Temple
Lungshan Temple was built in 1738 by Fujianese immigrants as a branch of the original Lungshan Temple in Fujian Province. It took five years to complete. Due to natural and man-made disasters, the temple has been repaired and renovated on numerous occasions. Its entrance faces south, with two bronze pillars in the front hall, and four dragon pillars in the central hall. The bronze pillars and woodcarvings are all exquisitely hand crafted. The platform and shrine in the front hall are particularly outstanding. The temple columns, inscriptions, and plaques are also worth a look.

Presidential Building
The Presidential Building was formally the headquarters of the Taiwan governor general during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. Its construction began on June 1, 1912, and was completed in March 1919. With its stage in front of the main entrance as its center, this building is well organized in structure, symmetric in shape, and distinctive in design. Inside the building there are tall cylinders, refined ornaments, long corridors and exquisite arches. The buildingˇ¦s design was influenced by English brick-built architecture in vogue during the period of Japanese rule.

From the Shuanglien MRT Station, (just west of the hotel on Minsheng West Road) take the Tamshui or Peitou train and disembark at the NTU Hospital Station. Walk east on BaoQing Rd., for approximately five minutes.
 
 
 
National Theater Concert Hall
Situated in Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Park the exterior design of the National Theater is based on traditional Chinese classical architecture. Its grand columns, carved beams, stone walls and railings, as well as its auspicious and bright colors, fully express the aesthetics of Chinese classical architecture.
The National Theater is designed for Chinese opera performances, traditional Chinese folk arts, Western opera, drama, ballet and other dance forms. The Experimental Theater, situated on the third floor of the National Theater, is used for small-scale performances.
